faq

  • Can I post an ongoing work?

  • Yes! As long as you have a first chapter with 2k+ words by the deadline.

  • Can I self-prompt?

  • Yes! Self-prompting is allowed, just claim the prompt named "Self-Prompt" in the Mirrorfest collection on ao3.

  • Can I pick a prompt without signing up?

  • No. If you're not signed up, your claim will be deleted.

  • How do I prompt without an ao3 account?

  • Get in touch with us through Twitter or Neospring and we'll add your prompt.

  • Can I write anonymously?

  • Yes. Just inform us through the Author Sign-Up Form or DM us.

  • Can I drop out?

  • We will be sad to see you go, but yes :( You can drop out as an author and as a beta reader, just contact us to let us know.

  • Can I sign up as a beta reader and an author?

  • Yes! But make sure you can manage both at the same time.

  • How to post in a collection on ao3?

  • There are two ways of posting in a collection.

  • 1) Go to your ao3 profile and click on "Claims". Click on the claim you wish to fulfill and provide the information required for the work to be published.

  • 2) Go directly to the collection, find the prompt you claimed, click on "Fulfill prompt" and provide the information required for the work to be published;

  • You have to click on "Publish" in order to submit the work to the collection. Don't leave it as a draft. Don't worry, the work will be hidden until moderation posts it.

  • If a prompter asks for a specific neulbin/binneul dynamic but I want to write it the opposite way, can I ignore that part of the prompt?

  • The goal of this fest is to build connections in the community through shared interest. Choosing to purposefully ignore a prompter's dynamic request is disrespectful to the prompter, and disrespectful to the spirit of the fest as a whole. Any fic that purposefully ignores a major part of the prompt will not be accepted as part of the fest.

Forms

beta reading rules and guidelines

  • A spreadsheet with beta readers will be available to authors upon request;

  • Mods won't pair up authors and beta readers;

  • Access to the spreadsheet will be restricted; third parties won't be able access the beta reader's personal information;

Beta Reading information for authors

  • When signing up for the fest, mark the option "I want a beta reader". If, by the time you sign up you're still undecided, you can ask mods later for the link to the spreadsheet. Access will be granted through the email address that was provided when signing up. You won't be able to access the spreadsheet through another email.

  • It's up to you to contact the beta reader of your choice;

  • Be respectful, kind, and respect the beta reader's restrictions;

  • Deliver your work to them in a timeframe they can work with;

beta reading rules and guidelines

  • Following the fest guidelines, beta readers must be 18+;

  • Respect the anonymity of the fest. Don't share the author of the work with others;

  • Answer authors who contact you in a timely manner;

  • It is up to you to inform moderation if you've been picked by an author so that your name can be crossed from the beta reader spreadsheet. That way, other authors will know you're not available anymore.

  • Beta readers can beta more than one work as long as the total word count is under 30k words. If the beta reader is already responsible for a fic that surpasses that word count by itself, the beta reader will be limited to it and cannot beta more than one work.

  • You're not obligated to accept an author or work if you don't want to;

  • Beta in time for posting and don’t forget to contact the author if needed.

  • Remember to always be kind;

ARTIST SUBMISSIONS

  • We are now opening to artist submissions!

  • Art must be completed by September 7.

  • Our prompt for art submissions is "mirrors". This can mean physical mirrors, traits that the boys mirror in each other, reflections, copies, mirrors of fate... get creative!

  • Due to the tight schedule, artists may also submit self-prompted bnb artworks.

  • Content rules that apply to fics also apply to artwork. Please see our "general rules" page

  • Artists wanting to participate in the fest should fill out our artist submission form.

  • Once mods have recieved the piece and approved it for the fest, we will DM you to give you a scheduled day to post! When it is posted, please tag @mirrorfest in your caption so that we can RT.

  • For artwork depicting an explicit scene, please be sure to use twitter's flag system to add a sensitive content filter.
